SASA steering wheel sensor

The SASA sensor detects the absolute position and speed of the steering wheel, which is critical when steering angle and steering wheel position must match, as in variable-steering-ratio and closed-loop setups. It is widely used in many steering systems and is commonly found in electrohydraulic steering systems with our OSPE, EHI, and EHPS steering valves.

Features and benefits

  • Non-contact inductive principle, giving very high resolution < 0.1°
  • Robust design, resistant to electro-magnetic radiation
  • CAN output signal for easy interfacing with advanced vehicle controllers
  • Mounted between the steering unit and column, contributing to system compactness
  • Compact design
  • Key safety features: 1) SASAIIC--“fail silent” concept; and 2) SASAIID--two output messages concept and PLUS+1® compliant

Applications

  • Agriculture
  • Construction
  • Road building
  • Material handling applications
