Converters

Our electric converter portfolio includes both high-voltage and DC/DC converters. These products are designed to withstand high temperatures, vibration, and shock in mobile work machines, commercial vehicles, and marine vessels. The same EC-C1200-450 converter can be configured for motor control, grid connection, microgrid, or DC/DC conversion.

Editron converters enable different functions: 

Motor control (+MC) inverter  

  • Used to control electric machines either in motor or generator modes  
  • Enables regenerative braking and respective energy flow management to increase system efficiency   

Grid-connection (+AFE) inverter 

  • Used for active grid interface that can boost the grid voltage to higher DC-level for the system  
  • Compact and robust; often used in stationary applications to reduce battery size and cost. 
  • Designed for use in mobile applications, with no additional cabinets needed to increase protection classes.  

Microgrid (+UG) inverter  

  • Used to create a standalone AC grid from a DC power source (battery, fuel cell, or any other source) 
  • Used in marine vessels or other mobile machinery to provide decentral AC grids to power various kinds of accessory equipment.  

DC/DC converter (+DC) 

  • High-power non-isolated DC/DC converter designed to control power flow to boost voltage 
  • Can also keep DC-link voltage at stable levels while battery voltage varies due to state-of-charge (SoC).

    HV inverters

    To power motors or other devices, high-voltage inverters convert direct current (DC) from batteries or generators to alternating current (AC). With nominal DC voltage up to 1 kV and maximum power up to 300 kW each, our inverters support a variety of applications including traction drives, grid connections, and island grids.

    DC/DC converters

    A DC/DC converter changes the voltage from a battery. It can serve as an intermediary between systems of different voltage and can be used in a variety of applications such as fuel cells. Operating at up to 850 VDC and 400 ADC continuous current, our DC/DC converters include the EC-C1200-450 converter and the EC-LTS1200-410 inductor unit.

    The EC-LCL1200B-350 is a heavy-duty LCL filter designed as an accessory for the EC-C1200-450-L inverter. These products together act as an Active Front End (AFE) by taking from and feeding to a power grid.

    The ED3 offers fast, easy access to charging power, delivering 43 kilowatts, the highest AC charging power available. This allows heavy-duty electric vehicles to be charged overnight using readily available AC power outlets, facilitating quick deployment while minimizing charging infrastructure costs.​

    Low-voltage inverters

    The Danfoss EC-C24-D180 motor controller operates with low-voltage DC input and high-current output, offering excellent hardware and software performance. One motor control unit (MCU) provides real-time motor control while a second is used for diagnostics and safety, and the use of isolated CAN circuits reduces interference.
