Spools

When a work function such as a cylinder or motor is connected to a work section, a spool can be used to change its speed (by adjusting flow) or its power output (by adjusting pressure buildup). A spool is chosen to match a work section's activation method, and each is equipped with a spring that returns it to a neutral position when power is disrupted.

Features and benefits

  • Flow control of work ports for speed control
  • Pressure control of work ports (e.g., for load holding valve operations)
  • Blocked neutral position for holding pressure on work port
  • Drained neutral position to bleed work ports (e.g., for load holding valve operations or motor braking)
  • Open neutral position for running off inertia of motor and reduce back pressure
  • Symmetrical or asymmetrical flow to suite cylinder ratio
  • Individual flow for each work port—both P --> port and port --> T—to suit any application
