J, H, S, and T series motors
With displacements from 8 cm3 to 739 cm3 [0.5 in3 to 45.1 in3] and continuous pressure ratings of 200 bar [2,900 psi], our Char-Lynn low-pressure J, H, S, and T series spool-valve motors feature a shaft design that incorporates both valving and hydrodynamic journal bearings. They are perfect for general applications such as harvesting equipment or food processing plants.

H series motors
Designed for medium-duty applications, these motors use industry-proven spool valve technology combined with state-of-the-art gerotors. In addition, a wide variety of mounting flanges, shafts, parts, and valving options provide design flexibility. Direction of shaft rotation and shaft speed can be controlled easily and smoothly throughout the speed range of the motor, and equipment can be driven directly, eliminating costly mechanical components.
J series motors
Danfoss Char-Lynn J Series motors provide a lot of power, up to 5 kW [6.5 hp], from a very small package. They are 61 mm [2.4 in] in diameter and 104 mm to 130 mm [4.1 in to 5.1 in] in length. The J Series motor shaft and seal allow return line pressures up to 76 bar [1,100 psi] without a case drain line and peak pressures of 220 bar [3,190 psi] in the return line.
S series motors
The Danfoss Char-Lynn S series motors with optimized Geroler sets and steel end caps offer enhanced performance with reduced drive-running angle while retaining a compact package size. The Geroler set has precision-machined rollers in the outer ring to support the rolling contact between the star and ring. This improves mechanical efficiency, especially at start-up and at low speeds. These motors provide reliable, leak-free performance and smooth start-up operation.
T series motors with brake
Using the same Geroler and spool valve technologies as standard Danfoss Char-Lynn motors, the T series motor with parking brake uses brake pads that rotate at six times the speed of the output shaft, providing a six-to-one mechanical advantage. In addition to thereby providing dependable load-holding capability, it provides the same smooth, reliable operation and performance as the standard T series motors.
T series motors without brake
T series motors feature the latest innovations in Geroler technology, including optimized Geroler geometry with a lower drive-running angle for improved life and low-speed performance. In addition, the improved housing and smaller-diameter end cap provide greater envelope rigidity to improve efficiency under high pressure loads. All these innovations come together to make the highest-performing motor in its class.
